Ta en dag i taget. Andas. Jobba. Fixa. Packa lite. Andas. Sova. Har jag kniv? Spegel. Hur mycket väger kalorierna? Hur får jag med mig 5 liter vatten? Jag skulle ha tränat mer med ryggsäck. Andas. Jobba. Sluta tänk. Börja tänka. Glöm inte tändstickor. Göra eld? Samla ved? Läsa mailet från HMdS. Jobba. Var tränare. Gå på nätverksträff. Andas. Gå in i bubblan. Vill inte prata. Träna. Sova. Laga mat. Finnas till.

Ikväll är det jag som färgar ögonbrynen. Enklast så.

Sista informationen - vad har jag glömt?

HALF MDS FUERTEVENTURA TIMING –
LAST RECOMMENDATIONS EMAIL
Here we are! Within a week, you’ll land on the island of Fuerteventura. The next day, you’ll begin a great personal adventure — four days of racing that will take you far beyond the limits of what you thought possible. Here are our latest recommendations for having the best adventure possible:
PLANE AND CARRY-ON LUGGAGE
Perhaps you’ve chosen a flight with no checked luggage. In this case, be careful about the equipment you bring. For example, a knife is a mandatory material, but knives are not allowed in the cabin. Try to make arrangements with other competitors you know who could help you out.
BIVOUAC AND FIRE
Warning: for MDS MAROC veterans, it may seem easy to gather enough wood every night to make a fire. This may be a bit more complicated in Fuerteventura. You will need fuel such as ESBIT tabs. However, be careful. These products are forbidden on most flights, even in checked luggage. We offer a store on site, before the race, to help you out at the last minute (but it’s better to take precautions ahead of time!).
WATER AND CONTAINER
Warning: water will not be distributed for the HALF MDS FUERTEVENTURA in the same way as for the MDS MAROC. You’ll be given 5-l bottles when you arrive at the bivouac. At the CPs, you’ll be able to fill your mandatory containers (canteens, bottles and hydration bags) at the tanks provided. You’ll not receive a certain number of new 1.5-l bottles per day. Bear this in mind when you’re choosing your hydration system for the race.
MINOR INJURIES AND MEDICINE
The medical team will not be responsible for treating minor injuries. Try to assess the severity of any injury or illness you may have before consulting the medical team. If you might not be able to continue the race due to your injury or illness, don’t hesitate to request their assistance. Don’t forget to bring your personal medicine to deal with all common problems (blisters, bruises, diarrhoea, etc.).
NETWORK AND ELECTRICITY
The bivouac has no electrical power supply. It is not possible to recharge your mobile phone, camera, etc. So save your batteries! At the bivouac and many points along the route, you’ll be able to access the phone and data network. But don’t overdo it. Make the most of the HALF MDS FUERTEVENTURA as a break from your usual life. In any case, using your mobile phone at the bivouac or on the route is not allowed. If you would like to make a phone call, step away as a courtesy to your fellow competitors.
CERTIFICATE AND ELECTROCARDIOGRAM
During the technical and medical check on Monday, 25 September, you will have to present your official medical certificate, as well as a resting electrocardiogram. Don’t forget them!
FEET AND BIVOUAC
Don’t walk with bare feet at the bivouac to prevent bites and avoid contact with thorns, insects, etc. Don’t forget to slip a pair of light sandals or the equivalent into your bag.
TOILETS AND TOILET PAPER
Chemical toilets will be set up around the bivouac. Don’t forget your roll of toilet paper. It won’t be provided on site. Needless to say, please respect the premises.
MANDATORY MATERIALS AND REGULATIONS
Re-read the regulations before you pack your bag, and check that you are bringing along all mandatory materials. Also check your daily food stock (2,000 kcal/day — but you are within your rights to take more!).
